'Toys'
Before there was a time, there was a dream
Where immortality was the disease -
The world was shaken by the deadly scream
That made their heaven burn and hell to freeze.
And when the world awoke, there was a time
When men were born and lived and changed the rules -
Creating order where there was no rhyme
Transplanting kings for nobler kinds of fools.
Where men and women merged in hapless bliss
And freely chose to leave the Garden walls -
They sealed their love with Death's soft, tender kiss
So unafraid to live and love and fall.
And when the world did sleep, the gods all joined
And marvelled at the wonders of their toys.
