'Sol Invictus'

A toast, toast
     to the Unconquered Sun
the darkness is ending
     the light has begun
in the days and weeks
     and months to come
as the mornings get longer
     the nights are undone

Hail, Hail
     Invictus, Sol
these long, dark nights
     have taken their toll
but your bright radiance
     will help to console
to heal heavy hearts
     and soothe weary souls

So cheer, cheer
     a new dawn is here
a turn of the wheel
     and shifting of gears
so let us rejoice
     on this fragile sphere
the rebirth of the sun
     and the coming new year
